AN ANALYSIS OF THE MAIN CHARACTER CONFLICTS IN THE MOVIE INSIDE OUT BY PETE DOCTOR
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the conflicts faced by the main characters in the movie "Inside Out" and investigate their psychological attributes. The data used for this research comes directly from the film. Conflict analysis is based on conflict theory from Kenny (1966) which is divided into two types, namely external conflict and internal conflict. Description and presentation of the main character by analyzing using the theory of Bernhardt (1953) which explains the psychological aspects consisting of desires, feelings and emotions. Qualitative research methods are used, emphasizing the relationship between data collection and observation, rather than relying on mathematical calculations. The findings of this study reveal that the main character experiences two different conflicts: external and internal. Psychological analysis shows that there are desires, feelings, and emotions in the main character. Through this conflict, it is clear that Riley, the main character, is making significant efforts to keep his private life a secret and try to solve this problem on his own.
